A-AAGORA presented at Cidade Azul Conference

The University of Aveiro hosted the third edition of the Cidade Azul conference on April 22, an initiative organised in partnership with Público newspaper, this year dedicated to the theme “University and Society: Action in the Territory”. The event took place at the Central Building and Rectory and brought together researchers, policymakers, and representatives of civil society to reflect on the role of research, innovation, and governance in sustainability policies.

Throughout the day, the programme fostered debate on how scientific knowledge can support more informed and transparent decision-making, contributing to more effective responses to sustainable territorial management. Panels addressing the relationship between public policies, institutions, and regional innovation, as well as the practical impact of science, highlighted the need for collaboration across sectors to tackle complex environmental challenges. The conference also emphasised the role of communities as key actors in the transition towards more resilient and inclusive development models.

The A-AAGORA project was presented during the programme by its scientific coordinator, Ana Lillebø, in the session “Nature and people in coastal systems restoration: collaborative solutions through a living lab”. The presentation focused on nature-based solutions and participatory processes that connect science and society in the restoration of coastal ecosystems, contributing to climate change adaptation and to the sustainability and resilience of coastal areas.
