A-AAGORA Project Wins the 2024 Atlantic Project Award for International Cooperation🏆
The A-AAGORA Project has been honored with the 2024 Atlantic Project Award in the International Cooperation category. 🎉 The award was presented on November 22, 2024, during the 11th Atlantic Stakeholder Platform Conference (ASPC 2024) in Bordeaux, France. 🇫🇷
The A-AAGORA Project is inspired by the ancient Greek concept of the AGORA—an “open meeting space” where ideas can be freely exchanged and developed. 🌿 This concept has been revitalized through project, which seeks to foster cooperation across the Atlantic and Arctic basins. 🌊❄️ A-AAGORA spans three dynamic living labs in Northern Norway, Ireland, and Portugal, where local stakeholders collaborate on the co-development and validation of solutions to address critical marine and coastal challenges. 🧑🔬🌱
As part of the European Commission’s Mission to Restore Oceans and Waters (Mission Ocean), A-AAGORA’s work extends beyond these core locations, involving regions from Iceland to Cyprus and addressing marine issues across all four European maritime basins. 🌍🌊

The 2024 Atlantic Project Award recognizes the project’s significant contributions to the restoration and preservation of marine and coastal ecosystems. 🏆 The award was accepted by Dionisia Laranjeiro and Mariana Pinho, representing the scientific coordination team at CESAM – Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies, as well as all individuals and organizations involved in the project.

This recognition highlights the effectiveness of collaborative and innovative approaches in tackling pressing environmental challenges.
